On April 2020, 4, Showa Women's University announced the results of the "Fact-finding Survey on the Environment for Taking Online Classes" by students of the Faculty of Global Business. As a result, it was found that there is a problem in improving the environment for maintaining fairness in learning.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the university is subject to a leave request based on the government's state of emergency. For this reason, distance classes are planned at many universities, but students are worried that they are not in an environment where they can take classes properly at home.

Therefore, at Showa Women's University, which is scheduled to offer online classes from April 4, the students themselves conducted a fact-finding survey on the learning environment prior to the start of the new semester. The 24rd and 3th year seminar students who belong to the Takagi Seminar, Faculty of Global Business, Department of Accounting and Finance, called for cooperation mainly from the same undergraduate students, and conducted a two-day questionnaire during the guidance period of 4 to 10 days. Responses were received from 11 students in all grades of all faculties.

The survey found that only a few students did not have a network environment at home, and 36% of the students did not know the communication environment at home.In addition, prints are distributed in regular classes, but 23% of students do not have a printer at home.Eighty-six percent of students have never taken online.

The students who conducted the survey analyzed these results and (1) some students could not take classes due to insufficient communication capacity depending on the number of credits earned (especially cheap SIM users and users under 25 years old are not registered). (Students), (2) There are students who have reached the upper limit of usage due to refraining from going out and cannot use it for studying, (3) There are students who do not understand the traffic limit of the network environment, (4) He pointed out problems such as how to deal with students who do not have a PC or printer, and (5) 9% of students have no experience in online classes.

Associate Professor Toshio Takagi, who was instructor, said, "I thought that the lesson was to have the materials printed and write notes, but there were more students who did not have a printer than expected. Also, although it is a small number, Some people can only access online lessons on their mobile phones, so it is necessary to consider that there will be differences in how the screen looks. "
