A timely emergency project "Corona Suppression Task Force" has been launched to protect the people from the new coronavirus. It was launched by Keio University, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Osaka University, Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Tokyo, National Center for Global Health and Medicine, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Kitasato University, and Kyoto University, representing Japan from various research fields. Scientists gather across the board.Aim to develop an effective mucosal vaccine.

Currently, the new coronavirus infection has infected 480 million people worldwide and killed more than 30 people (as of May 5), and it is unpredictable in the future. In order to overcome it, it is an urgent task to cooperate all over the world to scientifically elucidate from various fields, to predict accurate diagnostic methods and aggravation, and to develop effective therapeutic agents and vaccines.

The project will collect as many patient samples (DNA, RNA, plasma) and clinical information as possible to help promote research, including international collaboration. In addition, we will elucidate the genetic basis of the aggravation mechanism by making full use of the latest genome analysis technology, and promote the development of effective mucosal vaccines using our unique patented technology. For mucosal invading pathogens, the effectiveness of vaccines administered to mucosal surfaces such as the intestine and nasopharynx is expected.

The number of deaths per capita of Japanese coronavirus infection is said to be overwhelmingly lower than in Western countries. Therefore, as the first concrete research goal of the project, we will compare severely infected persons with mildly and asymptomatic infected persons, and search for disease susceptibility genes peculiar to Japanese people.

While soliciting the participation of many joint research facilities, the human genes of the collected samples will be analyzed once in July, and the research results will be summarized by September.Based on the findings obtained, the company aims to not only provide treatment predictions in clinical practice, but also to develop vaccines that are suitable for many Japanese people.
