The Public University Association calls for the local governments that set up public universities to incorporate a subsidy from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for the reduction and exemption of tuition fees that public universities independently carry out due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. An urgent request was sent to the National Council of Public University Establishment Organizations.

According to the Public University Association, the document is addressed to Hiroshi Kito, President of the University of Shizuoka, President of the University of Shizuoka, and Takuya Tasso, Governor of Iwate Prefecture, Chairman of the National Council of Public University Establishments.Regarding the fact that the subsidy system of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology is about to be introduced for the tuition reduction and exemption unique to public universities, it is the first time in 17 years that a direct subsidy has been created from the national government. I am grateful for my efforts.
In line with this, the National Council of Public University Establishment Organizations is requesting each establishment organization to incorporate this subsidy into tuition reduction and exemption support.

The Liberal Democratic Party's student support project team has announced that it will subsidize the full amount of the exemption for national universities and two-thirds for private universities, which have been exempted from tuition due to the spread of the new corona. Regarding public universities of local governments, it was said that it would support by another framework such as the accumulation of temporary grants for regional revitalization, and would provide subsidies that are not inferior to national universities and private universities.
