Satoshi Shinsako, an associate professor at the Neurorehabilitation Research Center of Kio University, revealed that children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) have altered sense of motor subjectivity.

DCD, a type of neurodevelopmental disorder that presents with coordination difficulty, is diagnosed in 5-6% of school children, cannot write clearly (difficulty in fine movement), and hits objects or people while walking (coarse movement). Represents symptoms such as difficulty) and inability to stand on one leg (balance disorder). It is also known that psychopsychological symptoms (depressive symptoms, anxiety disorders) frequently occur.

The predominant cause of DCD is the impaired internal model of the brain, which is important in motor learning and motor control. On the other hand, this internal model is thought to be involved in the generation of motor subjectivity that "it was the one who caused the behavior", but the motor subjectivity in children with DCD was unknown. ..

When one's "prediction of the outcome of an action" and the "actual outcome" match in time, the behavior is felt to have been caused by oneself, and a sense of exercise subjectivity is brought about. In this study, we experimentally investigated how much time error the motor-based feeling is maintained in the typical developing children (Typically developing: TD group) and the children with DCD (DCD group) (time window of motor-centered feeling). , Compared.

As a result, it was found that the time window of exercise subjectivity in the DCD group was significantly longer than that in the TD group. In other words, it was found that in children with DCD, even if there is a large time error between the behavior and the result, the cause of the result is mistakenly self-attributed (misattribution).

In addition, the time window of motor subjectivity in children with DCD was significantly correlated with depressive symptoms. This means that the greater the misattribution, the more severe the depressive symptoms.

The results of this study quantitatively clarified for the first time that the motor subjectivity of children with DCD was altered (the time window was extended), and also the alteration of the motor subjectivity, internal model disorders, and mentality. It can be said that it strongly suggested that there may be a bidirectional relationship with psychological symptoms.
