The Showa Kayo History Study Group Subcommittee / Diary Study Group in the Meiji University History Materials Center is continuing joint research on the unpublished "Aku Yu Diary" by Yu Aku, a graduate.In the future, the research results will be announced in various media such as the center's magazine "Bulletin of University History", and measures to pass on the "Aku Yu Diary" to the next generation will be examined and disseminated.

 Yu Aku, a leading Japanese lyricist and writer who graduated from the Faculty of Letters of Meiji University in 1959. He kept a diary for 1981 years from 2007 to 26 when he died.

 This diary, which Aku used to call "Anti-Roman Diary" during his lifetime, keeps the description of daily emotional movements to a minimum, and details daily current news such as world affairs, weather, and sports results that Aku came into contact with. It has a peculiar structure that it is described in.For Aku, who created his works with the times in mind, the diary was a place to describe and analyze the information on Aku's antenna, and was also the source of many works.

 At the Meiji University Aku You Memorial Museum, which is entrusted by the bereaved family to keep the diary, the 27 volumes of the Aku Yu diary are regarded as "cultural heritage" written by a rare hit maker, and the Meiji University Historical Materials Center is used for verification. A diary study group was set up within the university, and decoding work began at the end of 2014.

 The members of the study group are Etsushi Yoshida, a professor of the Faculty of International Japanese Studies, Kazuo Inoue, a former Iwanami Shoten, and Kan Mita, a writer.The study group is held every month, and the members have had many discussions while carefully reading the diary.

 In the future, the research results will be announced in various media such as "Bulletin of University History".The diary itself is not open to the public for the time being, but it is said that it will be considered so that it can be transmitted internally and externally by utilizing a part of the diary.
