Assistant Professor Hideaki Hata of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology, Nara Institute of Science and Technology participated in the fact that working from home due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection adversely affects the physical and mental conditions and productivity of system engineers. It was revealed in an international survey.

According to the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, the survey was led by Professor Paul Ralph of Dalhousie University, Canada, and responded from 53 people from 2,225 countries including Japan, the United States, Italy, and India who worked from home due to the influence of the new Corona. GotAssistant Professor Hata is participating in the survey as the person in charge of the Japanese version.

Analysis of the results of the questionnaire using statistical methods revealed that the physical and mental conditions and productivity of system engineers were adversely affected, and that there was a close relationship between physical and mental conditions and productivity. In particular, it has a strong impact on women, parents with children, and people with physical disabilities, and it has become clear that it is necessary to provide non-uniform support.

The research group must devise ways to improve the work-at-home environment, such as not demanding the same productivity as before and asking in detail what equipment and services are needed. I'm making a suggestion.
