In the Faculty of Education of Waseda University, from the general selection in 2023 (admission in April 2023), in addition to the A method (literature system) and B method (science system) consisting of the three subjects of the faculty's original examination so far, the university entrance examination is common. An entrance examination method (C method, D method) consisting of individual tests will be newly established.
The Waseda University School of Education has an admission policy to produce excellent educators and to develop talented people who can play an active role in various fields of the real world.The new method (C method, D method) will be introduced as an entrance examination that emphasizes flexible thinking ability, rich education, logical thinking ability and linguistic performance ability, in addition to the deep expertise evaluated in the three subject type entrance examinations.In this way, we will develop talented people who will contribute to solving various complicated problems in modern society.
Method C is a method based on 5 common test subjects and individual tests, and is targeted for majors in all departments of the Faculty of Education.Individual exams are given for each department (for science departments, each specialization), and the questions reflect the characteristics of learning in each department. A wide range of knowledge in the five subjects and an understanding of the specialty of the desired subject are emphasized.
Method D is a method based on the three common test for university admission and individual tests, and is only for applicants for the Department of Biology.The individual examination has the same problem as the C method of the Department of Biology.The Department of Science and Biology will stop recruiting for the current B method and will recruit for the C and D methods.
For the C and D methods, a total of 130 people will be recruited from the faculty, and the total number of general selections will increase by 90. The individual tests for the C and D methods were conducted on February 2, the same day as the current method.It is not possible to apply concurrently between departments / majors / specializations and between methods including the current method, and it shall be selected at the time of application.
In the C method, when the number of applicants reaches about 8.0 times the number of recruited personnel, the first stage selection is performed based on the results of the common test for university admission, and individual tests are conducted for those who have passed the first stage selection. In the D method, two-stage selection is not performed based on the results of the common test for university admission.
In addition, the general selection method consisting of three subjects of the undergraduate original examination so far has produced graduates who are active in supporting various fields, including undergraduate education after enrollment, by evaluating deep expertise, and the current method (A). Method, B method) will also be maintained with almost no change in recruitment personnel.
