In April 2017, Waseda University opened the Waseda University GS (Gender and Sexuality) Center, the first resource center for sexual minority students and students interested in gender sexuality.

 Waseda University is working to create a campus that accepts diverse values ​​and ways of life regardless of nationality, gender (diverse gender, not just men and women), and the presence or absence of disabilities. From April 2017, various efforts such as abolishing the "gender column" in the "attendance book" of each class and changing the name of the multipurpose toilet on campus to "anyone's toilet" so that sexual minority parties can use it without hesitation. It is carried out.

 The "GS Center," which was born as part of this, was realized from the voice of students saying, "A place where sexual minority students can spend their time with peace of mind!" One of the purposes of the GS Center is to increase the number of allies (supporters), and to position it as a place open to all students, not just those involved, the participation of students and parents of the parties who want to know about gender sexuality. Are also welcome.

 Participation in "Tokyo Rainbow Pride 1" held during Golden Week, about a month after opening, and "Gender & Sexuality Book Fair" held at Waseda University Co-op to commemorate the opening of the center (as needed during the spring semester) ) And so on.The number of users of the center has already exceeded 2017.

 In the future, the GS Center will play a central role in holding events, movie screenings, lunch parties, etc. to deepen understanding of sexual minorities in collaboration with official circles and student groups.
