Chubu University will open the Department of Aerospace Science and Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering in April 2018.Given that the Chubu region has been designated as the "Asia's No. 4 Special Zone for Aerospace Industry Cluster Formation," the aim is to develop human resources who will play a central role in the manufacturing sites of the aerospace industry. As a result, the Faculty of Engineering will have eight departments.

According to Chubu University, the Department of Aerospace Science and Engineering has a capacity of 80 students. In addition to inviting engineers who are active on the front lines of the aerospace industry to lecturers, they will also conduct factory tours and factory training at related large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises to learn about the actual situation at the manufacturing site. After graduating, the company intends to send out human resources who will become leaders in the production field in the next-generation aerospace industry.
Four years later, a graduate school will be opened, and we are thinking of developing highly-skilled human resources.Currently, we are constructing an experimental building for conducting experiments and graduation research toward the opening of a new department, and we are rushing to introduce research equipment such as signal receivers from satellites.

The Chubu area is the base of the aircraft industry, with the first domestically produced passenger jet "MRJ" taking off from Nagoya Airport. In the aircraft industry, the number of parts used per large aircraft is said to be roughly 1 times that of automobiles, and the related industries are expanding widely.
The Chubu region has developed as the center of the automobile industry such as Toyota, but with the designation of a special zone, we are thinking of growing the aerospace industry into a major industry next to automobiles.

To that end, the Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry has started basic training for field technicians and training for production engineers, as well as an aircraft manufacturing technician training course that utilizes a common curriculum that standardizes skill training for airframe assembly. ..Chubu University will keep pace with these activities and promote human resource development so that the Chubu region will become a base for the aerospace industry.
