On September 2017, 9, a new library opened at Kyoto Women's University.The library of the university, which boasts the top-level collection of books among Japanese women's universities with about 15 books, has 84 basement floors and 2 floors above ground.Located in the center of the campus, there is an open stack reading space "Chie no Kura" on the north side and an "exchange floor" on the south side where you can study and meet.In addition, we will set up a terrace space "Kyomesaka" and an event space "Sakanaka Hiroba" that connect the entire campus in between, aiming to be a friendly stay-type library.

 "Kura of Wisdom" is a place to create intellectual exchanges by utilizing the knowledge archives accumulated by the university.A wall-mounted bookshelf surrounds the stairwell space.On the other hand, the "communication floor" is "Media Commons" on the 1st basement floor where you can learn using a computer, "Active Learning Commons" where you can have discussions and group work on the 1st floor, and "Casual study space" which can also be used as a cafe on the 2nd floor. Is placed, and it is a place for lively communication.

 For the construction of the new library, the "Library Architecture Campus Project" was implemented for two years until its birth. Since the spring of 2, we have been engaged in a wide range of activities in collaboration with designers and builders together with volunteer student members.It was a place for various learning, such as exchanging opinions with female employees of a construction company, inspecting off-campus facilities, learning about quality control from the site manager, and witnessing delivery inspections.The situation is summarized in 2015 activity reports and can be read on the homepage.
