Tokyo Institute of Technology and Taylor & Francis have signed a three-year e-journal conversion agreement starting January 2023 to promote the publication of open access articles.
The conversion agreement provides for a journal subscription fee and an article publication fee for open access publication of articles in Taylor & Francis and Routledge Open Select (hybrid) journals. In addition to guaranteeing access to all Taylor & Francis journals to which Tokyo Tech subscribes, the conversion agreement will allow researchers affiliated with Tokyo Tech to open their papers in Taylor & Francis journals. It is expected that the number of published papers will increase as the individual burden of article publication fees will be greatly reduced when access is made.As a member of the Consortium of University Libraries, the Tokyo Institute of Technology Library will be the first institution to participate in the Read & Publish proposal agreed upon by the consortium.
Professor Akira Yamada, Director of the Library at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, said, "We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Taylor & Francis, a company with a long history. Amidst the global trend toward open access publishing, our university is also expanding its research capabilities. We are actively proceeding with a conversion contract to increase this.I have high hopes that this contract will increase the visibility of our research results, especially those of young researchers.”
