The Department of Biology, Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University has opened an open archive "KyU Tube Bio" that contains a wide range of images and images related to biology, from cells to plants and animals.
In this department, we will try to clarify the structure and function of cells, gene expression, development, molecular structure of proteins, etc. by macro research at the individual level and above focusing on fieldwork, which is a tradition of Kyoto University. We are promoting education and research targeting various life phenomena woven by various organisms on the earth by integrating micro-research below the cellular level. In the process, a huge amount of images and images taken were accumulated, but most of them were only stored in individual laboratories and faculty members.
Therefore, the department launched a project to build an open archive containing these videos and images. In this archive, 18 videos and 102 images are registered from all 156 laboratories belonging to the zoology classroom, botany classroom, and biophysics classroom, which are the core courses of the major.Detailed data such as organism name, shooting location, shooting date and time, shooting conditions, keywords, and simple commentary are posted in both Japanese and English on each video / image page.It is very useful as research and educational materials. In principle, it can be reproduced, reprinted, and distributed free of charge, and we aim to make it widely available in Japan and overseas through the Internet so that it can be viewed and utilized.
