A group of Toyama University, Fushimi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and the Kawawa Industry Support Foundation has developed a cosmetic material that increases the amount of skin ceramide.

Ceramide contained in the stratum corneum plays an important role in maintaining skin moisture and skin barrier function. In particular, it is said that about 80% of the role of keeping skin moisturized is contributed by ceramide, and the decrease in the amount of ceramide due to aging causes wrinkles and sagging.

In the current cosmetics market, there are many products in which pseudo-ceramides such as plant ceramides and synthetic ceramides are applied to the skin. However, these only temporarily supplement the ceramide of the skin from the outside, and the original ceramide production function of the skin cannot be improved.

On the other hand, the newly developed Ginnalin B is based on the concept of working on the skin's original ceramide-producing function and restoring that function. It is a kind of maple tannin contained in maple family plants and has not been used in the past because it is difficult to separate. However, this time, we succeeded in developing a production technology for synthetic maple tannin, which enables low cost and mass production. rice field.

It was reported that Ginnalin B induces a significant increase in the expression of the ceramide synthase gene, and it was confirmed that the intracellular ceramide production amount increased in a concentration-dependent manner when cultured with human epidermal keratinocytes. ..At the same time, the effect of promoting the differentiation of epidermal cells was also confirmed, and it was found that the promotion of skin turnover is expected.

Ginnalin B, an innovative natural cosmetic material, has been on sale since April 2019. Since the skin function can be improved by the two barriers of "increasing the amount of keratin ceramide" and "promoting turnover", it is expected to be incorporated into a wide range of cosmetics in the future.
