On March 2020, 3, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology announced that it had selected 19 schools in the 2019 "Comprehensive Support Project for Reform of Private Universities".Shibaura Institute of Technology's university reform efforts were selected from all four types, including "development of distinctive education" and "development of distinctive advanced research."As a result, the number of selections for the seven years since the start of this project was 310, which was the highest number among the 4 schools that received applications from all over the country.

 The "Private University Reform Comprehensive Support Project" is a university-wide and systematic reform aimed at clarifying roles, characteristics, and strengths, such as promotion of distinctive education and research and collaboration with industry and other universities. A project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology that focuses on supporting universities and other institutions. Selection began in 2013 with 3 types, and from 2014 it has become 4 types and continues to the present.

 Of the four types selected by Shibaura Institute of Technology, the one that greatly exceeded the selection criteria and received the highest evaluation among the universities that applied for it was "development of distinctive advanced research."Efforts to promote specialization and functional enhancement based on advanced research, such as research aimed at solving socially demanding issues and research contributing to the creation of innovation, are targeted.At Shibaura Institute of Technology, we are promoting the diversity of human resources by recruiting researchers (faculty members) internationally and supporting the return of researchers who have experienced life events.At the same time, we are actively promoting international joint research, such as establishing an international research base. The international co-authorship rate in FY4 was 2018% of the total research results, and it has increased by 26.2 points over the past five years, and we are focusing on strengthening our research capabilities as a "base for creating knowledge."

 In addition, the second highest evaluation among the universities that applied for it was "development of distinctive education."The target is improvement of educational methods based on visualization of learning outcomes, development of educational programs across humanities and sciences, and efforts to reform high school connection.At Shibaura Institute of Technology, under the leadership of the President, we have built a teaching management system for teaching profession-academic collaboration (teachers, staff, students) with the aim of becoming "the best science and engineering education in Japan" and "a global science and engineering education model school". We value "what students have learned" such as interactive lessons using ICT and systematization of active learning, and analyze, evaluate, and visualize it to ensure and improve the quality of education.

 Following Shibaura Institute of Technology, the top schools in the number of selected types for seven years were Kanazawa Institute of Technology, Kanazawa Institute of Technology, International University of Health and Welfare, Fukuoka Institute of Technology, and Musashino University.
