The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) conducted a survey on the reform status of educational content at universities in 2014 and announced the results. The survey was conducted from October 26 to February 2015, and responses were obtained from 10 schools, which is 2016% of the 2 national, public and private schools surveyed.

As a result, continuous efforts were made in some matters and great progress was recognized.First, efforts to understand student learning time and learning behavior (77%), and efforts to establish a PDCA cycle (plan-do-check-act) for educational improvement (64%) have been mentioned since 2011. By 2014, the number of universities implementing each item has more than doubled. In addition, the number of schools that have introduced the GPA system (grading evaluation system) has reached 2% of all universities, and along with the implementation of vocational and career-related programs in first-year education (78%), the number of universities that have implemented it is from 74 to 2009. Each has increased by about 2014 times.

In addition, as matters that have not yet spread nationwide but are recognized for progress, utilization of the course system diagram (curriculum map, curriculum chart) (58%), description of the required study time in the syllabus (16%), The establishment (20%) of the department in charge of IR (the department for collecting and analyzing information and making policy proposals that contribute to university management, education and research) is mentioned.

As future issues, it is necessary to make various efforts based on three policies (graduation certification / degree conferral policy, curriculum organization / implementation policy, and enrollment acceptance policy).Specifically, it is important to develop a curriculum, present it to students in an easy-to-understand manner, and establish a PDCA cycle by IR.In addition, improving the qualifications of faculty and staff is also an issue, and the low participation rate in training for faculty development (FD) and training for faculty and staff training (SD) with a sense of university management is a problem.
