The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has expanded the target area and extended the period of priority measures such as declaring an emergency and preventing spread due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. A notice was issued to the National College of Technology, local governments, etc. requesting the active use of simple antigen kits.

According to the Ministry of Education, the notice is a document named by the Higher Education Planning Division. We are requesting that people with mild symptoms use a simple antigen kit that can detect people at early risk of infection when symptoms appear. The use cases include not only school attendance but also club activities and participation in various national competitions.

The simple antigen kit inserts a cotton swab through the nose to wipe the mucous membrane, etc., and examines the antigen, which is a protein in the virus. Although the accuracy is inferior to the PCR test, it is completed in a short time of about 15 to 30 minutes. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology distributes a maximum of 80 simple antigen kits to universities nationwide.

If a positive person is found in the test, a PCR test will be conducted in cooperation with the health center to confirm the infection and to investigate the contact person.

Until now, emergency declarations have been issued to Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Osaka, and Okinawa prefectures, but on the 20th, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Shizuoka, Kyoto, and Hyogo prefectures.
