The paper by Yuka Sasaki (master's degree in March 2015) of the Department of Earth Sciences, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Yamaguchi University (Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture) received the "BEST ARTICLE AWARD 3" at the Society of Resource Geology. An award ceremony and award lecture were given at the Society of Resource Geology held at the University of Tokyo on June 2016, 2017.

"BEST ARTICLE AWARD 2016" is an award given to the most excellent papers published in the international journal "Resource Geology" published by The Society of Resource Geology in one year. From the field of earth science, in addition to the lead author Yuka Sasaki, Professor Teruki Imaoka, an academic advisor, and Associate Professor Mariko Nagashima, a collaborator, were also awarded as co-authors.

In the research of the award-winning paper, a geological survey was conducted on "Ofuku Pluton" distributed in the Ofuku area west of Akiyoshidai. We conducted mode measurement of rocks, chemical analysis of rocks and minerals, magnetism measurement, K-Ar dating and observation of fluid inclusions, and investigated the relationship between magmatism and ore formation.

As a result, (1) Ofuku pluton is a small plate-like zoned pluton composed of fine to medium-grained tonalite and granite. Not possible (2) A total of 3 items were clarified, such as the fact that it consists of ilmenite-series igneous rocks. In addition, since the presence of fluid with high salinity contributes to the concentration of metals, it is highly possible that this rock body exerted a mineralization effect on the surroundings and formed a deposit.

Professor Imaoka, an academic advisor, said, "I am very pleased that this is the first time that a graduate student who has provided research guidance has received an award. I hope that this award will be an outcrop for active graduate students. It wasn't always good, and I remembered Mr. Sasaki, who was observing by clinging to the ground so as not to overlook even one outcrop under such disadvantaged conditions. "
