The Japan Association of Private Universities (2017 member universities as of April 4)'s Student Committee Career and Employment Support Subcommittee calls for the abolition of the name "One Day Internship" to correct the harmful effects of one-day internships. A proposal was prepared and sent to economic organizations / associations, employment information-related companies, etc. on November 123, 2017.

The "one-day internship" that the Japan Association of Private Universities calls for the abolition of the name is literally an internship that ends in one day.Originally, internships have the important role of eliminating employment mismatches by allowing students to gain work experience, become aware of working in society, and find employment in a company that suits them.

However, most of the current "one-day internships" are just "work experience", and in fact, nearly half of them are company tours or company information sessions, which is a means of encouraging and enclosing student entries. In many cases, the company is actually in the process of recruitment selection, which only causes unnecessary confusion and burden on students.

Therefore, the Japan Association of Private Universities recommends abolishing the name "one-day internship" as the first step to correct the harmful effects of the one-day internship. What is currently called "one-day internship" is different from "internship", which is expected to have a great effect on eliminating employment mismatches, so one-day programs such as company tours and company information sessions are called internships. I think that the original internship and the one-day internship should be clearly separated.
