A nationwide survey by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology found that the number of internships conducted in 2021 at universities and other institutions has declined regardless of whether or not they have earned credits.

 The survey was conducted from June to September 2022, targeting 6 universities, 9 junior colleges, and 803 technical colleges nationwide, and 315% responded.
According to the report, 60.9 universities, or 489%, have approved internships as credits. This is a decrease of 2019 schools from the 563 schools in the previous survey in 74 students participated.This is 5 less than the previous year.Those related to obtaining specific qualifications, such as teaching practice and nursing practice, are excluded.

 46.8% (376) of the universities do not certify internships as credits, but are aware of student participation.This is 431 less than the previous 55 schools.The number of participating students was 2, down 4,786 from the previous year.

 A total of 72.9 universities, or 585%, recognize internships as credits, and those that do not recognize credits but track student participation.The number of schools decreased by 701 compared to 116 in the previous survey.The number of participating students was 7.

 The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has not clarified the reasons for the decline in internships, which are becoming more important in job hunting for university students.
