The Faculty of Business Administration and Faculty of Economics of Josai University (Sakado City, Saitama Prefecture, President Yozo Fujino) held three "joint seminars" for the first time beyond the framework of the department.Through the experience of achieving goals together with members of other faculties and seminars with whom there is usually no opportunity to interact, the aim is not only to learn intellectually, but also to foster the ability to create new things by cooperating with a diverse range of people. is.

Joint seminars were held by Professor Makoto Shibanuma of the Faculty of Business Administration and by Professor Tomoe Asahara and Associate Professor Naoko Inoue of the Faculty of Economics, both of which are compulsory classes for second-year students. In the class on May 2, about 5 students were divided into 31 teams of mixed seminars and challenged the "straw tower" task in order to learn the PDCA cycle in management and the OODA loop, which is a method of decision-making.The goal of this activity was to build the tallest free-standing tower possible using only 60 straws and tape.

In this day's class, he said, ``There are many things that do not go well when we actually try to do what we have planned in advance. (Faculty of Economics), “I believe that both the PDCA cycle and the OODA loop will be necessary in the future society. I think my communication skills have also improved.”

Also, in class on June 6, we worked on "consensus practice," which aims to build consensus through dialogue alone, without relying on majority voting or rock-paper-scissors. After arranging five options for "undesirable behavior as a high school student," such as "faking illness" and "stepping on a parent's photo," in order of their own undesirable behavior, the group discussed with the aim of reaching a consensus. There are various types of dialogue, such as a group where various opinions are exchanged, and a group where discussions get stuck. A student from the Faculty of Business Administration, who had an opportunity to positively view the diversity of values, said, "I found it interesting that there were many people who had ideas that I didn't have." I was able to understand a lot of things with his explanation, so I thought I should ask as many questions as possible about differences in thinking until everyone was satisfied." There were various realizations through experiences such as students who had the opportunity to discover things.
