Nagasaki University has endorsed the ``2006% Male Childcare Leave Declaration'' by Work-Life Balance Co., Ltd., which has provided work style reform consulting to over 3,000 companies since its founding in 100, to encourage male employees to take childcare leave.

The Declaration of 100% Childcare Leave for Men is a declaration by representatives of companies and organizations for which Work-Life Balance Co., Ltd. began recruiting in March 2019. This organization is made up of organizations that are working to achieve this goal and organizations that want to increase their certification rate and eventually aim for 3%. This is to clearly demonstrate that, as a business owner, we are committed to creating an environment in which it is easy for men to take childcare leave in the future, regardless of company size or current status of childcare leave. As of now, declarations from 100 companies have been collected.

At Nagasaki University, in order to create a work environment where both husband and wife can participate in childcare, Nagasaki University is working to change the awareness of those who are planning to become fathers in the future, the awareness of surrounding staff, and the awareness of managers, and to provide accurate information. In 2021, we held training sessions for fathers and managers completely free of charge and communicated this as a contribution to local communities, affiliated hospitals, and people across the country. Additionally, in November 2022, content on childcare leave for men will be included in the 11rd edition of the work-life balance guidebook "ABCs of childbirth and childcare." Starting in August 3, we have held monthly pre-maternity/childcare leave briefings on campus, and from June 2019 we have begun contracting for Work-Life Balance's ``Training to Promote Childcare Leave for Men/Flat Rate Service.'' As a result of these efforts, the rate of male childcare leave taking will increase to 8% in fiscal 2023, and with the aim of creating a workplace where all faculty and staff members can work comfortably and demonstrate their abilities, we are currently aiming to increase the rate of male childcare leave taking to 6% in fiscal 2022. signed the declaration.

To encourage men to take childcare leave, it is essential to reform the work style of the entire organization, and Nagasaki University started working style reform in 2015 as a "Work Style Innovation (WSI) activity", and initiatives are being implemented at university hospital clinical departments, etc. are doing. We improved the quality through discussions about training, etc., and the number of papers published in English increased from 0.3 papers/person in the previous year to 1.3 papers/person, and in Japanese, from 0.5 papers/person in the previous year to 3.0 papers/person. By reviewing the way patients are handed over, some teams are seeing a variety of results, including reducing the morning handover time by about 3% or 30 minutes.

On Wednesday, February 2024, 2, we will hold a symposium entitled "Reiwa 28 Hospital Work Style Reform" and will introduce clinical nurses ahead of other national university hospitals to improve the quality of medical care.
