Himeji Dokkyo University has announced that it will suspend student recruitment for the Department of Medical Pharmacy in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences from 2025.

The Department of Medical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Himeji Dokkyo University was established in April 2007. Efforts have been made to reform the entrance exam system, visit high schools to gain understanding of pharmaceutical education, provide trial admissions for high school students, and provide remedial education. In addition, we will develop a new scholarship student system and incentive student system to reduce the financial burden on students, introduce early entrance exams for international students, and strengthen the acceptance of transfer students targeting technical colleges in order to secure students. I've been trying hard. Efforts have also been made to enhance and strengthen support for national exam preparation for current students, and to incorporate multidisciplinary collaboration into education that leverages the strengths of the University of Arts and Sciences.

However, the number of students enrolling has decreased due to intensifying competition with schools of pharmacy within Hyogo Prefecture and nearby prefectures, a decline in the 18-year-old population, and significant changes in economic circumstances. Although the enrollment capacity has been reviewed and the enrollment capacity rate has improved from 2013 to 2017, since 2018, due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the enrollment has fallen below the capacity again, and no improvement in enrollment capacity is expected in the future. I decided that.

Himeji Dokkyo University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Medical Pharmacy, will continue to exist until all current students graduate, including new students who will enroll in April 2024, and will be responsible for providing guidance on education and research, learning support, employment guidance, etc.・We will do our best to provide support.

Regarding faculties of pharmacy, some private universities in particular have a low enrollment rate, and in light of this situation, the standards for approval of establishment, etc. have been partially revised, and from 2025, it will no longer be possible to establish new faculties of pharmacy or increase enrollment. . However, because there is a shortage of pharmacists in certain areas, exceptions such as regional quotas are allowed, and over the past two years there have been new establishments, increases in capacity, and decreases in capacity.
