Saitama Institute of Technology cooperated with Fukaya City's "SNS utilization course for active seniors (6 times in total)" for seniors, and carried out local social cooperation activities.
Fukaya City's "SNS Utilization Course for Active Seniors" is a total of 55 courses for citizens aged 6 and over to learn how to use SNS (LINE, Facebook, Instagram).The city planned that the use of SNS by senior citizens would lead to interaction, community activation, brain activation, and dementia prevention.
In order to cooperate with this project, Saitama Institute of Technology has formed a teaching team consisting of visiting professors Shunji Imon and other visiting instructors in the information field, as well as students centered on female students.Female students created handmade and easy-to-understand texts so that even seniors can easily use SNS.
In the course, many participants were new to using smartphones and SNS, but young students who played the role of teachers carefully taught how to operate smartphones and basic knowledge of SNS, and the participants used LINE. It became possible to contact each other, family members, and friends.On January 2019, 1, the final round of the course, we will hold a bus tour to discover and post the charm of Fukaya.Participants enjoyed SNS using what they learned in the previous courses.Saitama Institute of Technology will continue to cooperate in activities to support various information utilization in the local city of Fukaya, making use of this experience.
