With the enforcement of the Education Personnel Certification Act and the revision of the Enforcement Regulations of the Act on April 2019, 4, a new teaching profession course with a full range of courses has been started at 1 universities nationwide.
Until now, as issues related to teacher training, "the required number of credits is stipulated by law, and it is difficult to change the number of credits promptly even if a new educational issue arises." There were problems such as "the teaching profession course does not respond to changes" and "there is a strong tendency for university teachers to be biased toward research interests, and the necessary learning as a teacher is not being conducted."
Therefore, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology revised the Education Personnel License Law in November 2016 to broaden the subject categories of the teaching profession so that students can learn the specialized contents of subjects and teaching methods in an integrated manner. With the revision of the Education Personnel License Law Enforcement Regulations, the contents of the teaching profession course will be enhanced so that the knowledge and skills required at the school site can be acquired in the training course. The contents newly added to the teaching profession course by this revision are foreign language (English) education in elementary school, teaching method using ICT, enhancement of special support education, class improvement from the viewpoint of active learning, school and so on. Cooperation with the community, enhancement of moral education, etc.In addition, in the core curriculum of the teaching profession course, it was decided to clarify the qualifications and abilities that should be acquired in common in the teaching profession courses of universities nationwide, and to prepare teaching methods and specialized subjects especially for English.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has examined all universities that have a teaching profession course to ensure that a teacher training system that reflects this revised law and core curriculum is secured. From April 2019, 4, a "new teaching profession course" has begun with a total of 1 courses at 1,283 accredited universities, graduate schools, junior colleges, etc.
