The Japan Sports Agency has selected 2019 schools, including Hosei University, Kansai University, and Shikoku University, for the promotion of university sports in 13.Each school receives national financial support and focuses on career development of student athletes and contribution to the community through sports.

 According to the Sports Agency, in addition to the three schools selected, Aichi Gakuin University, Chukyo University, Teikyo Heisei University, Nagasaki International University, Kokushikan University, Sendai University, Tokyo International University, Niigata Medical Welfare University, Mukogawa Women's University, Yamanashi Gakuin University.

 Of these, Hosei University plans to develop advanced models for career development of student athletes, Kansai University plans to enhance learning support for student athletes, and Shikoku University plans to revitalize the region through university sports.
Mukogawa Women's University has created a sports design for the university mascot character "Rabbie", Chukyo University has trained sports administrators in the Tokai area, and Niigata University of Health and Welfare has included research aimed at preventing the occurrence of disabilities for athletes.

 The Japan Sports Agency was soliciting proposals from universities nationwide from May to August, and a technical review committee of experts examined the content of the proposals and selected 5 schools.
