Tokyo Institute of Technology established the "Liberal Arts Research and Education Institute" in April 2016.A symposium commemorating this will be held on June 4, 2016 at the Ookayama Campus.

"Liberal Arts Research and Education Institute" has "sociality" that grasps the issues in modern society and recognizes its role in it, "humanity" that explores deeply, and "creativity" that realizes it. It was newly established for the purpose of developing human resources with "aspirations".

Until now, up to the 4th year of the undergraduate program, we have been conducting "wedge-shaped education" in which students take liberal arts courses in parallel with specialized education, but the new liberal arts education curriculum will be extended to the doctoral course.

There are four features.Group work of about 4 students will be conducted in the "Tokyo Institute of Technology Ritsushi Project", a course that all students take immediately after enrollment. After that, in the third year of the bachelor's course, I reunited with the members of the project and challenged the "Bachelor thesis".Students in the first year of the master's program participate in these classes as advisors.

At the "Leadership Dojo", which is taken in the first year of the master's course, you will acquire the leadership ability to guide the team toward the goal.In the "Student Produced Course" for doctoral students, which is the goal of the liberal arts course, the "seed" of cutting-edge research and advanced liberal arts knowledge are shared through research and presentations by the group.Select the theme, arrange the venue, consider the program, etc. and take charge of the operation on the day.Through this four-stage cultural curriculum, it aims to develop true leaders who will lead society in the 1st century.

The symposium commemorating the establishment of the "Liberal Arts Research and Education Institute" will be held at the Ookayama Campus from 2016:6 on June 15, 17, and general participation is also possible. No reservation is required and admission is free.
