Under the influence of the new coronavirus infection, Waseda University will hold all classes online in the spring semester of 2020.In response to this, the University Research Center conducted a questionnaire survey on online classes for all students from August 2020 to 8, 3 (22 responses, recovery rate 15,093%).

First, 92.2% of the students answered that they had "useful online lessons", and 73.7% answered that "there were some lessons that they were not satisfied with".The good points of online lessons are that you can study at home (76.4%), you can study at your own pace (70.3%), and you can effectively use your commuting time for learning (57.0%).On the other hand, improvement points include many issues (63.0%), feeling more physically tired (61.8%), and feeling isolated (58.1%).

Regarding the lessons that were considered to be the most useful, among the items with the most positive answers, 66.7% answered that they had feedback on the assignment, and 56.0% answered that the students' opinions were reflected in the lesson content and how the lesson proceeded. However, the dissatisfied classes were 25.6% and 9.8%, respectively.

In addition, 7% of respondents answered that the appropriate percentage of online classes is 69% or more under the risk of infectious diseases.Even when the risk disappears, 1% answered that 83% or more is appropriate, and 36% answered that 4% or more.On average, the appropriate ratio of "online lessons" to "face-to-face lessons" was 7% to 3% under the risk of infectious diseases, and 3% to 7% when the risk disappeared.

From the above, although online classes have some dissatisfaction factors, they were generally highly evaluated by students. In response to the results, the center presented improvement efforts "6 clauses" and response examples. In the future, we will conduct a re-survey (autumn semester) and promote the implementation of effective "hybrid lessons" that combine the advantages of face-to-face lessons and online lessons, taking into consideration the lesson content and the characteristics of teachers and students.
