The treatment aimed at improving walking function was started with insurance coverage.
"Medical HALR" is the world's first cyborg-type robot treatment device developed by Cyberdyne Inc.When a person tries to move a leg, the signal necessary for walking from the brain through nerves is sent to the muscle, so a sensor attached to the skin detects the weak signal (biopotential signal) and drives the motor. Therefore, it is possible to realize the operation according to the wearer's intention.By utilizing this signal to assist standing, sitting and walking, and repeating exercises according to the intention, it is expected that the therapeutic effect of improving walking function in the progress suppression treatment can be expected.
Kinki University School of Medicine Sakai Hospital has been conducting clinical research on 2015 patients with neurodegenerative diseases using this medical HALR research model since September 9, and as a result, it is said that the effect of improving walking function was observed.Due to the revision of medical fees in 12, four medical institutions including Kinki University School of Medicine Sakai Hospital have eight diseases (spinal muscular atrophy, bulbous spinal muscular atrophy, muscle) that are designated intractable diseases of the nervous and muscular system. Medical HALR coverage will be started for patients with atrophic lateral sclerosis, Charco-Marie Tooth's disease, distal myopathy, inclusion body myositis, congenital myopathy, and muscular dystrophy.
In addition, Kinki University School of Medicine Sakai Hospital has accumulated a track record of clinical research using medical HALR, so it has five bases nationwide that conduct medical HALR training for doctors and physiotherapists accepted from all over the country. It is also one of the hospital training facilities.Kinki University School of Medicine Sakai Hospital will continue to contribute to the spread of medical HALR and research and development of intractable disease treatment as one of the few training facilities in Japan.
