University of Tsukuba and Rakuten (President Hiroshi Mikitani, Tokyo) have agreed to jointly develop a new store system utilizing the Internet, and the joint research bases "Future Store Design Laboratory" and "Future" within the University of Tsukuba. "Store Design Laboratory" was opened.
According to the University of Tsukuba, the joint research will be attended by Professor Toshimasa Yamanaka, Associate Professor Toshiro Uchiyama, Assistant Professor Hiroyuki Yamada, about 30 students, and 4 researchers from Rakuten Institute of Technology, Rakuten Group. do.
The research theme is "Research on store systems that create next-generation purchasing experiences."With the aim of developing store prototypes that utilize the latest Internet, IoT, and AI technologies, we will provide a store system developed for stores that open in the Internet shopping mall "Rakuten Ichiba."
As future research items, we are considering making the purchasing experience entertaining, such as how to link actual stores and e-commerce (electronic commerce), intelligent product displays, and augmented reality interfaces as future store designs.
University of Tsukuba and Rakuten have been jointly developing user interfaces for next-generation e-commerce services since 2010.In order to research a new store system that utilizes the Internet, research on sensitivities and product design that quantifies and objectively evaluates user emotions is indispensable, so we have re-launched joint research.
