The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Engineering and Sekisui House, a major housing company, are located in the University of Tokyo Faculty of Engineering Bldg. 1 in Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. "T-BOX" was opened and started operation.
According to the University of Tokyo, the T-BOX is located on the 1th floor of the Faculty of Engineering Bldg. 4 and is approximately 180 square meters in size.Equipped with machine tools and copiers, it accepts a wide range of users from within the university and aims to become the center of the manufacturing environment of the University of Tokyo.
Since June 2020, the University of Tokyo and Sekisui House have been promoting research activities on the future of living, led by Kengo Kuma, a special professor at the University of Tokyo, a world-renowned architect.The core of this is the International Architectural Education Center.
There are three projects to be promoted: International Design Studio, Digital Fabrication Center, and Digital Archive Center.The international design studio will be designed by world-class architects such as architects belonging to ensemble studios based in Spain and the United States, and Andrew Kovac based in Los Angeles, USA.
The Digital Fabrication Center will carry out research on the theme of coexistence between people and nature, and develop advanced human resources related to digital technology.The Digital Archive Center aims to digitize various building materials and make them accessible to domestic and foreign researchers.
