Yuhei Yamauchi Laboratory of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, the University of Tokyo and Bunkyo Ward Youth Plaza "b-lab" operated by the certified non-profit organization Katariba have collaborated to create a new place for junior and senior high school students. We have started the "Marebito Project" to draw out a lot of interest. The period is from April 2022, 4 to March 1, 2023.

Katariba has been operating the youth center "b-lab" since April 2015.A youth center is a place where junior and senior high school students are not at school or at home, where junior and senior high school students can gather after school or on holidays, meet various role model people, and learn while trying various things. thing. We are working on the concept of "a secret base for junior and senior high school students who can challenge anything at any time".

Until now, at b-lab, as a place to discover one's potential through various events related to culture, sports, and learning, lessons and events by local residents with specialized skills have been held, and self-planned My I have cultivated the ability to take leadership in what I want to do while incorporating projects (practical exploratory learning) and collaborating with others. In August 2021, the total number of visitors to the museum exceeded 8, providing many junior and senior high school students with opportunities to meet and learn from a third place, which is neither a school nor a home. ..

This time, in collaboration with the Yuhei Yamauchi Laboratory of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, the University of Tokyo, we have launched the "Marebito Project" to study the mechanism that attracts the interest of junior and senior high school students in the youth center.

In the "Marebito Project", researchers from Yamauchi Lab visited b-lab as "Marebito (a person who shows a new world)" together with young researchers and graduate students of the University of Tokyo. "Marebito" is an opportunity for junior and senior high school students to observe specialized activities by making the situation open while carrying out projects and research activities based on their own specialized fields in the space inside b-lab. And provide an opportunity to work with them.

In collaboration with the University of Tokyo, b-lab pursues the creation of a place for junior and senior high school students to discover interests and meet new curiosity through daily encounters with "Marebito", and as a youth center. Work to further increase value.Furthermore, we aim to systematize and develop knowledge about youth centers by disseminating the results.
