The Science Council of Japan has compiled a reference standard for the curriculum organization of "service science," which is an important research subject not only in business administration but also in the engineering field.From the definition of service science, it summarizes the basic abilities, learning, and evaluation methods that students should acquire, and is a guideline for universities to organize the curriculum of service science.

 According to the Science Council of Japan, the reference standards were compiled by the Joint Services Subcommittee of the Business Administration Committee and the General Engineering Committee.17 academic experts including Chairman Tamio Arai, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, and Vice Chairman Hiroe Tsubaki, Chairman of the Statistics Center, are participating.

 Looking at research trends related to overseas service science, although systematic organization is insufficient, researchers from various fields are collaborating with the aim of establishing new research fields.In Japan as well, it is hoped that research conducted by researchers and practitioners in the humanities and sciences will be reflected in education, but there is no course or department called service science yet, and systematic education has not been conducted.Based on this, we consider "service science" as a cutting-edge field, and propose the ideal way of education in all related fields in the bachelor's program.

 In the reference standard, the definition of service science is "a study that comprehensively learns services, which is an act of co-creating value between a provider and a recipient."The university will provide system theory and practice methods for the service industry.

 It stipulates that students studying service science should develop the ability to make accurate decisions and to find and solve problems, taking into account the various characteristics of services.

 Regarding learning methods, it is necessary to use various educational methods such as lectures, exercises, and practical training.He emphasizes that service science needs to collaborate with other majors and systematically learns non-specialized fields as a minor.
As for the evaluation method of results, a wide range of evaluation criteria should be prepared for the ability to find and solve problems, the ability to communicate with related parties, and the ability to understand diversity.
