調査によると教職大学院の入学定員の合計は1,376人（2016年度比152人増）、志願者数の合計は1,744人（2016年度比201人増）、入学者数の合計は1,342人（2016年度比125人増）で、うち、現職教員学生が648人（2016年度比60人増）、学部新卒学生等694人（前年度比65人増）だった。
入学者が 定員の何％にあたるかを調べる入学定員充足率は、国立46校の平均が98.8％、私立7校の平均が90.2％、全体で97.5％。入学定員充足率が80％に満たなかったのは、山梨大学大学院（78.6%）と長崎大学大学院（76.3%）、鹿児島大学大学院（75.0%）、聖徳大学大学院（60.0%）、創価大学大学院（72.0%）の5校だった。
