From April 2020 to December 4, the number of suicides is increasing due to the spread of the new corona virus.・ It was found in the research of Hanley specially appointed lecturers.Especially among young people and women, the increase is remarkable.

According to Asahikawa Medical University, the research group used suicide statistics published by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to investigate changes in suicide rates before and after the new corona pandemic, which may not have happened without a pandemic. It kicked out a certain number of over-deaths.

As a result, the number of excess deaths due to suicide during the pandemic was estimated to be 1,208 for men and 1,825 for women.By age group, males were in their 20s and 40s, and females were in their 20s, 30s, and 60s, with the highest number of suicides.

The Korona-ka has restricted the lives and social activities of people around the world, and has a great impact on mental health. To prevent suicide, each country is reaching out to those in need, but given the increase in suicides, it is undeniable that support may not have reached those who are really under pressure.

The research group will continue to investigate suicide and propose appropriate support.
