The "Minna no Mercari Class" was planned as part of activities that contribute to the revitalization of the aging Tama New Town.University students and the elderly will build a relationship of trust through "Mercari" and aim to contribute to multi-generational exchanges and revitalization of local communities. The venue, "Kenkou Tsunagu Hiroba Toyoyon," is located in a shopping district located in a corner of the housing complex, and is a valuable place where elderly people can gather and interact with each other.

Eleven elderly people living in the same area participated in the two-day classroom. One of the motives was to interact with people, but many people wanted to continue to use products that have irresistible memories. The seminar students gave a lecture on the procedure for listing and how to take pictures while staying close to the feelings of such elderly people.Even for the elderly, it was an opportunity to share a fulfilling time aiming for the debut of "Mercari" by devising ways to take pictures among the participants and receiving explanations from the seminar students.

On May 5, Mercari employees, seminar students from Nagashima, and Professor Tsuyoshi Nagashima participated in an exchange of opinions.Based on the questionnaire of the participants, we talked about the review of the Mercari classroom and the future prospects.By using the smartphone payment service "Merpay", it will be possible to smoothly use the proceeds for the next shopping, which will lead to the revitalization of the local economy and by creating a Mercari community based on local facilities. Discussions were held on the possibility that the lives of the residents would be enriched, and it was decided to continue the activities and seek the realization of the possibilities.

The Mercari classroom held in a corner of the housing complex can be regarded as a social experiment that will lead to solving the problems of the housing complex in Tama New Town, which has been in operation for more than 50 years. With the aging of the residents of the housing complex, it can be said that it is significant for university students in the area to carry out activities to support the community through industry-academia collaboration.
