To mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Faculty of Advanced Science and Engineering, Waseda University started commemorative events such as open campuses and various seminars.In conjunction with this, we have launched a crowdfunding campaign, "I want to convey the power of chemistry," to support the success of the commemorative event, and are calling for donations.
According to Waseda University, "I want to convey the power of chemistry" is being carried out on the crowdfunding site "READYFOR".The period is until August 8, and the target amount is 13 million yen.As of 250:6 pm on June 23rd, 21 yen has been collected from 81 donors, and the donation ends at 266:3,000 pm on Sunday, August 8th. We will seek further support to enhance the project.
Waseda University's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was established in 1973 as the Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science and Technology.In 2007, the Faculty of Science and Engineering was reorganized into three faculties: Fundamental Science and Engineering, Creative Science and Engineering, and Advanced Science and Engineering.
A commemorative event will be held on August 8th and 5th at the Nishi-Waseda Campus in Okubo, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, where booths to introduce departments and experimental classrooms will be set up.Furthermore, on October 6th, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the Department of Applied Sciences, and the Kanto Branch of the Chemical Society of Japan are co-sponsoring an event titled "How will chemistry change the next half century?"In addition, cutting-edge scientific seminars will be held to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) advocated by the United Nations.
