On December 2023, 12, Ryukoku University concluded a comprehensive collaboration agreement with SoftBank Corp. and LINE Yahoo! Corporation. The two companies will collaborate on projects such as building the Ryukoku University Kyoto Station New Base (tentative name), which is scheduled to begin operations in 15. Collaboration and co-creation with Kyoto City is also planned, and Kyoto City Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa attended the agreement signing ceremony as a guest.
"Ryukoku University Kyoto Station New Base (tentative name)" will foster human resources who will lead social change and value creation by interacting and fusing the diverse academic fields of Ryukoku University. It will also be widely open to students from other universities and working adults, aiming to provide opportunities for "learning" and "growth" that go beyond what is offered on a traditional university campus.
Under the comprehensive collaboration agreement, this base will provide an experimental environment for the practical application of cutting-edge technologies such as Beyond 5G (fifth generation mobile communications system), as well as the latest solutions and cutting-edge technologies that utilize technologies such as AI and IoT. We are proceeding with discussions with Softbank to build a facility where people can experience the technology.
In addition, by receiving SoftBank Group's knowledge and know-how regarding startup support, the new base will provide a place for co-creation support for creating promising startups from Kyoto regarding student ventures, which Ryukoku University has been focusing on. We will work together to achieve this.
Furthermore, under SoftBank's "Smart Campus Concept," in collaboration with LINE Yahoo, we will utilize various digital solutions to digitize university operations and develop a digital environment, promoting DX.
