In April 2025, Kyoto University of Advanced Science will reorganize the Faculty of Bio-Environmental Sciences into two departments: the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences (tentative name, currently under construction/capacity: 4 students) and the Department of Applied Life Sciences (tentative name, under construction/capacity: 80 students). In addition to reorganizing the university into a department, a new international course will be established in which students can earn graduation credits through lectures conducted primarily in English.

Nagamori Gakuen, the educational corporation that operates Kyoto University of Advanced Science, is chaired by Shigenobu Nagamori, founder of comprehensive motor manufacturer Nidek Corporation. Thanks in part to Mr. Nagamori's generous donation, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Systems in the Faculty of Engineering (enrollment capacity: 2020 students) was newly established in 200. International students enroll from all over the world, and there are 189 international students enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering. Starting in the fall semester of their first year, students entering the Faculty of Engineering in April will deepen their knowledge of specialized fields of engineering in English together with international students. We have a system in place to support university life, with three engineering faculty members assigned to each student as advisors.

There are 12 international students enrolled in the Faculty of Bioenvironmental Sciences. At present, there is a difference in the number of international students with the Faculty of Engineering, but from 2025, the new Faculty of Bio-Environmental Studies is scheduled to welcome approximately 30 international students from all over the world each year. Similar to the Faculty of Engineering, there are plans to create a place to study together with Japanese students, providing an optimal environment for Japanese students to acquire practical English and an international mindset.

International students (the number of foreign students with the residence status of "Student") at all universities, including the Faculty of Engineering, come from 43 countries, and the countries with 10 or more students are China, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Bangladesh. , Myanmar, Sri Lanka, the United States, and Mongolia.
