The "Kansai Science School Consortium *", which has six national and public universities in Kansai such as Kyoto University as regular members, will hold the "Kansai Science School for Girls' Junior and Senior High School Students" from July 6 to convey the appeal of science courses to girls' junior and senior high school students.

In Japan, where the birthrate is declining, as future science and engineering human resources, "female", who make up half of the population, is attracting attention as a new source of human resources. However, the number of female researchers is not increasing slowly, and the root cause is that the number of female students enrolled in the science and engineering department of the university is small.

Against this background, the "Kansai Science School for High School Girls" is a collaboration between six national and public universities in the Kansai region, and "to convey the fun of science and engineering academic fields through experiments and practical training" and "science and engineering" to high school girls. It started in 6 with the aim of "knowing that there are many colleagues who like the field of science and engineering" and "notifying that there are various science and engineering jobs as a profession".

Participating schools are Kyoto University, Osaka University, Kobe University, Osaka Prefectural University, Osaka City University, and Nara Women's University. Each university becomes a secretary school every year, and women who work in the field of science and experiments using university equipment to get to know the breadth and depth of the world of science and the attractiveness of going on that path. We hold lectures by engineers and exchanges with female university students throughout the year.A total of about 1 female junior and senior high school students and their parents participate annually (actual number is about 2000), and it is said that they gather not only in the Kansai region but also in the Chugoku / Shikoku region and the Chubu region.

 2019年度は、大阪市立大学が幹事校となり、2019年7月21日、10月27日、11月10日、12月22日、2020年3月20日~21日に開催する。

* The "Kansai Science School Consortium" is a JST (National Research and Development Organization) "Kansai Science and Technology Promotion Organization" by Kyoto University, Osaka University, Kobe University, Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka City University, Nara Women's University, and 6 national and public universities in Kansai. An organization established in 2006 with the Kansai Science School, which has been operating since 2017, as the activity base, following the adoption of the "Science Career Selection Support Program for High School Girls".
