The joint research team of Professor Yuki Matsumoto of the Department of Children, Faculty of Human Life Sciences, Tokushima Bunri University, Associate Professor Yuma Ishimoto of Tottori University University Education Support Organization, and Associate Professor Takahiro Yamane of the Graduate School of Human Development and Environmental Studies, Kobe University is in Japan. We investigated "high anxiety" that had not been quantified so far in children aged 6 to 12 years with developmental disabilities.

Children with neurodevelopmental disorders (developmental disorders) such as autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), localized learning disabilities (LD), and intellectual disabilities (ID) have "high anxiety". (I'm afraid, I have a lot of worries) ”has been revealed in overseas studies. This "high anxiety" not only reduces opportunities to interact with people and try new things, but also leads to secondary problems such as school refusal. However, until now, in Japan, there has been no survey of "high anxiety" in daily life situations for children with developmental disabilities.

Therefore, the research team investigated the "high anxiety" of children with developmental disabilities in Japan, targeting children who use day services such as after school. As a result of the survey, it was found that children with developmental disabilities were more anxious than ordinary children, and there was a statistically large difference in scores, especially children with ASD.We also found that children with developmental disabilities experienced more difficulties than children without developmental disabilities, not only because of their high anxiety but also because of their behavioral problems (hyperactivity, friendships, etc.).

In the future, the research team will not only support the anxiety of children with developmental disabilities and the problems that arise from high anxiety in Japan, but also that children with developmental disabilities are suffering from high anxiety and anxiety. I hope that you will deepen your understanding that you need the support of.
