On June 2020, 6, Showa Women's University started online student exchanges with Temple University, Japan Campus, Pennsylvania, USA.
Since Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) moved to Showa Women's University's Setagaya Campus in September 2019, students from both universities have been learning Japanese culture such as swords and swords together, and the menu of the student cafeteria. We have been engaged in various student exchanges, such as developing together.
One of them, the "Japanese Salon" and "English Salon" planned by the student groups of both universities for each other's students, was held face-to-face during the lunch break before the Corona disaster.However, at present, in order to avoid infection with the new coronavirus, both universities have shifted to online classes, and students are prohibited from attending school, so there is no place for interaction between students.
Therefore, on May 5, a Japanese salon was held on a trial basis at Zoom with the aim of resuming exchanges.About 22 people from both universities participated and enjoyed conversations in small groups using Zoom's "breakout room" feature.It turned out that online exchange has a different advantage from face-to-face exchange, and from June 20, we decided to start full-scale online English salon and Japanese salon as a place for new student exchange. ..From now on, the English Salon will be held on July 6rd, and the Japanese Salon will be held on June 5th and July 7th.
TUJ opened in 1982. In 2005, it was certified as a Japanese school by a foreign university by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and students from about 60 countries are studying.In June 2016, we signed a credit transfer agreement with Showa Women's University so that we can take each other's courses. In 6, TUJ will move to Showa Women's University's Setagaya Campus, forming a super global campus where two universities in Japan and the United States stand side by side.We are deepening cooperation through a double degree program in which students study at both universities for a total of five years and obtain two degrees, faculty and staff learn about universities in Japan and the United States, and hold an academic forum in Japan and the United States.
