From 2019, he will be appointed President of Osaka Prefecture University, and also serves as Vice President of Osaka Prefecture University, a public university corporation.He specializes in inorganic material chemistry and glass science, and has received awards such as the Japan Chemical Society Award and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Science and Technology.
Osaka Prefecture University and Osaka City University integrated their operating corporations in 2019. An application for the establishment of a new university is scheduled to be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in October. Osaka Prefecture University will reorganize the 4 faculties of Osaka Prefecture University and the 8 faculties of Osaka City University into 1 faculty and 11 faculties.The undergraduate enrollment capacity is about 2,900, making it the third largest national and public university in Japan.The main campus will be newly established in Joto-ku, Osaka City, near Osaka Castle, and will be used for education for first and second graders.
