On June 6, Bunkyo Gakuin University will conclude an "Agreement on Mutual Cooperation in the Event of a Disaster" with Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. In the event of a large-scale disaster, the Hongo Campus will be partially provided as a temporary evacuation facility, and management and operation support will be provided by Bunkyo Gakuin University faculty members and international students. In addition, we will establish a system for dealing with foreigners who can be "vulnerable to disasters" and work to raise awareness of disaster prevention among foreigners.

Bunkyo Gakuin University, as a "university rooted in the community and open to society," is working to solve social issues by utilizing the research results and human resources of the university. One of these measures is currently being implemented for foreigners who can be “vulnerable to disasters”. "Earthquake disaster prevention manual (Bunkyo-ku version)" was produced and distributed. In order to further promote these activities, we have concluded this mutual cooperation agreement.

Under the mutual cooperation agreement, based on the Bunkyo Ward Regional Disaster Prevention Plan, Bunkyo Gakuin University will provide some facilities on the Hongo Campus to ensure the safety of those who have difficulty returning home in the event of a large-scale disaster.
In particular, foreigners can be vulnerable to information and disasters because their languages are different, but the university, which has a faculty of foreign languages, can actively respond to foreigners by implementing programs such as cross-cultural understanding and international exchange for many years. ..Taking advantage of this, in the event of a disaster, multilingual support for facility displays on campus, university faculty members, staff, and international students will provide support for foreigners.
Furthermore, in March, the "Earthquake Disaster Prevention Manual (Bunkyo Ward version)" produced in two languages, English and Chinese, will be distributed at public facilities in Bunkyo Ward to promote activities to raise disaster prevention awareness during normal times.
