Kinki University announced that it is the first Japanese university to partner with CAMPFIRE, a crowdfunding management company, to solicit external research funds using crowdfunding.

Crowdfunding is a system in which entrepreneurs and others raise funds from an unspecified number of people via the Internet, and CAMPFIRE is one of the largest crowdfunding in Japan, raising a total of about 2000 million yen for more than 9 projects so far. Operates.

At Kinki University, we are conducting education and research where research results lead to social contribution like Kindai Tuna, and by collaborating with CAMPFIRE, we will not only further enhance the research system, but also use crowdfunding to conduct that research. It is said that it is possible to explore social needs.

The first use is the research fund of "Kindai Honey" of the Faculty of Engineering. This project, which started in 1, was started by Kazuhiko Yamamoto, an associate professor of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Hiroyuki Matsuda, an associate professor of the Department of Architecture. The decrease in production of honey worldwide has become a problem, and in particular, domestic honey has a self-sufficiency rate of only 2014%.Therefore, we started making "Kindai Honey" beyond the boundaries of the department, raised about 7 bees on campus, and collected 9 kg of honey in 2015.In addition to beekeeping, the goal is to contribute to society by producing honey with enhanced health functions, providing tourism resources to the local community, and creating employment. The target amount of research funds raised by CAMPFIRE is 24 yen, and it is said that it will be used to purchase beehive boxes.

In the future, we plan to launch a project with the goal of once a month and raise research funds through CAMPFIRE, which will lead to student support such as club activities in the future.
