Waseda University has set up a new scholarship, "Azure Sky Scholarship," for residents and graduates of orphanages. This is a pre-admission reservation scholarship that promises to provide scholarships while enrolled before enrollment. It seems to be good news because many people from orphanages give up going to college for financial reasons.

According to Waseda University, the qualifications for applying for the azure sky scholarship are those who are in or out of the orphanage within two years and are under the age of 2 at the time of application. It is a condition that you live independently after enrollment and wish to go on to school in 20 or 2017.

Those who wish to go on to higher school in 2018 are also eligible, so if you get a qualification in the second year of high school, you can concentrate on studying until the exam.If the payment is approved, not only will you be exempted from expenses such as entrance examination fees, entrance fees, tuition fees, and experimental training fees, but you will also be required to pay 2 yen a month for four years until graduation. In addition, while attending school, follow-up will be conducted through interviews with university staff and engaging in student jobs (such as faculty assistance work on campus) so that the study situation does not deteriorate due to daily life.

Due to the abuse of parents, there are about 3 children living in orphanages nationwide, but only 22.6% go on to higher education institutions such as universities, which is different from 76.9% of all high school graduates.Even after going on to school, I have to continue working part-time, and there are many cases where I break my body and drop out.

As for the benefit-type scholarship for those from orphanages, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture will subsidize 2012 yen for admission and 29 yen for housing expenses from 20.Since 2014, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, has paid half of the tuition fees after the age of 20 when the extension period for leaving the facility expires.Nagano Prefecture has been paying up to 2015 yen a month for four years from FY5, and the Nippon Foundation (Tokyo) has begun to provide benefits up to 4 million yen a year from FY2016, and the circle of support is expanding mainly among local governments.

Applicants will send the application documents to the Waseda University Scholarship Division "Azure Sky Scholarship" by registered mail by September 9 (effective postmark).
