From October 2021, 10, Shibaura Institute of Technology began issuing digital certificates of academic achievement.By creating an environment where students can access their academic achievement certificates online from anywhere in the world and electronically share grade data with overseas universities, we will further support students' activities on a global scale.
Digitization has been promoted overseas since the 1970s, and today, digitized academic achievement certificates are issued by higher education institutions in more than 40 countries, but the penetration rate in Japan is low.In order to promote the acquisition of highly-skilled overseas human resources and international students in the global society, digitization of academic achievement certificates is indispensable, and we have decided to implement it.
The introduction was carried out with the cooperation of the International Education and Research Consortium (abbreviation: RECSIE) and Digitary of Ireland, an international IT company.First, digitization of academic achievement certificates such as graduation certificates will begin in October 2021, and digital issuance of all certificates is scheduled to begin in April 10.
As a result, students and graduates will be able to send verifiable official certificates and link URLs for authenticity confirmation by themselves when finding employment or studying abroad.Universities will also be able to share their academic achievement certificates electronically with overseas universities that share the platform, which will lead to more efficient support for affiliated schools and international students and contribution to SDGs through paperless operations.
