University of Tsukuba and Fast Doctor Co., Ltd. have signed a joint research agreement in the field of emergency medicine.

In FY2017, the number of ambulance dispatches increased by 2.1% from the previous year to about 634 million, the highest ever (Source: Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). However, the breakdown by degree of injury or illness of the transport personnel was the highest at 49% for mild cases.

Against this background, Fast Doctor Co., Ltd. has curtailed the use of ambulances for mildly ill patients, and ambulances and higher-level emergency medical institutions (facilities for severely ill patients such as serious illnesses and polytrauma) are severely ill patients. With the aim of building a medical network that allows you to concentrate on your medical care, we provide 24-hour emergency consultation and 365-day home-visit emergency medical care by a medical institution affiliated with Fast Doctor. We are engaged in a business to support emergency medical examinations.

Specifically, when an emergency consultation is received from a patient, the urgency is determined based on the urgency determination protocol (Fire and Disaster Management Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). If the degree of urgency is extremely high, we will guide you to 119, if it is quasi-emergency and home-visit indication, we will arrange an emergency home-visit, and if it is not quasi-emergency and home-visit indication, we will guide you to an emergency hospital or go to the emergency outpatient department affiliated with Fast Doctor for free. We will provide appropriate support according to each patient's symptoms, such as transportation.Currently, it covers Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Osaka, and provides more than 4 medical consultations and more than 1 home visits annually.

In the joint research between the University of Tsukuba and Fast Doctor Co., Ltd., which was concluded this time, we propose a new emergency consultation support system based on scientific evidence and quantitatively evaluate the social effect of this system, and the appropriate way of emergency medical care. Aim to create wide-ranging evidence for the university.

University of Tsukuba is in charge of academically evaluating the quality of emergency consultation support systems from the standpoint of public health and health service research.Fast Doctor will be mainly in charge of systematizing service functions.Quantitative evaluation of the social effects of the new system proposed through this research is expected to be a guideline for creating new services that will be accepted by the accelerating super-aging society.
