Since its founding, Aoyama Gakuin University has provided education based on the Christian faith, and has devoted itself to developing human resources with the wisdom and power to discover and solve problems on their own.In career support, we have created opportunities for students to think about their own careers from an early stage, centering on "information provision", "event holding" and "individual consultation".

However, regarding OB/OG visits, there were problems such as not being able to grasp the latest OB/OG information and trends, and the situation after providing OB/OG information to students.Under these circumstances, we asked Noboru Hirai, Administrative Director of the Career and Employment Center, about how Aoyama Gakuin University decided to introduce the BizReach Campus and the effects after the introduction.

Respecting the will of students and developing career support along three axes

Aoyama Gakuin, which originated from three schools founded by missionaries of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States, provides education based on the Christian faith, and will celebrate its 3th anniversary in 2024.Aoyama Gakuin University is an educational and research community that serves as 'the salt of the earth and the light of the world'.Starting with the Aoyama Standard, a unique university-wide educational system, we cultivate the wisdom and ability to discover and solve problems on our own through learning, and develop "Servant Leaders" who open up the future for all people and society. .

What kind of career education is being developed at Aoyama Gakuin University, which offers such a distinctive education?Mr. Hirai of the Career and Employment Center says, "We respect the will of each student to the utmost, and provide career support by creating various opportunities from the lower grades so that they can step out into society with hope."

"In addition to collecting and providing information on a wide variety of places of employment and career paths, such as private companies, government offices, and local governments, we hold about 350 to 400 career support courses annually. In addition, several staff members, including full-time staff, I have responded to individual consultations about students' career paths and employment." (Mr. Hirai)

She has provided career support through three axes: providing information, holding events, and individual consultations, but in recent years she has often felt that there are issues.

“For example, job hunting information is provided through job hunting handbooks and online career and job search support systems, but the information that students can grasp from letters and videos is limited. Therefore, we would like to cover the provision of information by utilizing alumni visits, etc. I can't grasp it.” (Mr. Hirai)

The university has a system of "employment advisors" for alumni volunteers, and asks alumni who have registered with the employment advisors to cooperate with OB/OG visits. However, there are many cases where OB/OG information cannot be updated due to changes in contact information or job changes. In addition, in order to obtain OB/OG information, which is personal information, students need to come directly to the window of the Career and Employment Center.

In order to solve these problems, Mr. Hirai considered using the Bizreach Campus.

Mr. Noboru Hirai, Administrative Manager of the Career and Employment Center, who interviewed us.

OB/OG visit event held in cooperation with BizReach Co., Ltd.

In recent years, Aoyama Gakuin University has been promoting efforts to achieve the SDGs from the perspectives of education, research, and social contribution, and the Career and Employment Center was considering holding an SDGs-themed event. There was a time when we held events related to SDGs and careers, and they were highly effective in attracting customers.Bizreach Co., Ltd. will support the attraction of working adults working on the SDGs at the forefront of business and the operation of the event.

In this way, we held a career support course for lower grades, "Ob/OG visit online seminar for seniors working in the SDGs area".

“When students go out into society, how can they contribute to society through their own work? Although the number of participants was small, the interest in the SDGs among the students was extremely high, so I decided to ask about the SDGs. OB/OG visiting seminars on the theme had a certain amount of success," says Hirai.A subsequent questionnaire revealed that "student satisfaction" was high, and this was one of the decisive factors for considering the introduction of Bizreach Campus.

After that, the on-campus employment department steering committee considered the introduction of the BizReach Campus. In May 2023, "BizReach Campus for Aoyama Gakuin University" will be officially introduced.

“Our university produces about 4,000 graduates each year, and about 2024 of the students scheduled to graduate in 2,500 have already registered with the BizReach Campus. We are now encouraging the registration of campuses.” (Mr. Hirai)

“Prior to the introduction of the BizReach Campus, we were able to support career support events,” says Hirai.
