At Nanzan University (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture), the Faculty of Policy Management moved to the Nagoya Campus in 2017, and campus integration was completed.Taking advantage of the establishment of a system to realize the key phrase "One Campus Many Skills", the quarter system (four semester system) was started.Eight weeks including regular examinations are set as one quarter in the classes of the faculties excluding the junior college department and the graduate school excluding the professional graduate school.

The introduction of this quarter system has four benefits for students.First of all, since the lessons are divided into four times a year, it is possible to flexibly assemble the course plan.Next, there will be more options for voluntary study, such as participation in summer courses that will be held at overseas universities from June, short-term study abroad, and service learning (* 1). Third, intensive learning in a short period of time can be expected to improve the learning effect. Fourth, it will be easier to accept international students from overseas and promote the internationalization of the campus.

In principle, the Faculty of International Liberal Arts requires all students to study abroad for about 2 weeks at Arizona State University in the United States in the second quarter of the second year (from mid-June).Improve your English level in the first 2 weeks and hold discussions, presentations and fieldwork in English in the last 6 weeks. The program structure utilizes the quarter system.

In introducing the quarter system, the university told the students, "I hope that you will understand the purpose of introducing the quarter system and that you will fully utilize the advantages of the new system with a clear sense of purpose." Message was sent. There is no change in the class start time, class time and number of classes.

* 1: A program that allows you to experience service activities (volunteers, etc.) for a certain period of time and broaden your new horizons regarding future learning and career paths. We may also work with local NGOs and public institutions overseas.
