Insurance coverage for the clothing-type halter electrocardiograph (generally known as a long-time electrocardiographic data recorder) developed by Keio University Hospital in collaboration with Xenoma Co., Ltd. began on March 2022, 3.It will reduce the burden on the examinee and make it possible to carry out inspections by mail without the need for a visit.

Long-term electrocardiography is frequently used to detect arrhythmias and ischemia, and is widely used in the cardiovascular field. In normal clinical practice, it is common to perform 2-lead (two electrocardiogram waveforms) for 2 hours, but the number of hospital visits will increase due to the involvement of medical staff in attaching and detaching, and examinations are being conducted using cables and recorders. There are various problems in the measurement by the conventional Holter electrocardiograph, such as the fact that the examinee often avoids the examination because the movement of the patient is restricted.

Therefore, the research group jointly developed a 3-lead (three electrocardiogram waveforms) electrocardiographic measurement system that even non-specialized examinees can wear by themselves. In this system, a examinee who has been prescribed an electrocardiographic test for a long time at a medical institution wears an e-skin ECG measurement shirt and measures by attaching an e-skin ECG data recorder to the shirt. After the examinee returns the test kit, Xenoma provides the analysis results of the electrocardiographic data to the medical institution, and the doctor makes a diagnosis based on the analysis results.

The e-skin ECG data recorder was certified as a Class II medical device after a demonstration experiment at Keio University Hospital (January 2022).With the start of insurance coverage this time, the necessary preparations have been made in the system for practical use in medical institutions.

Xenoma takes the lead in providing inspection kits and analyzing data for the practical application of inspections utilizing the developed system.Inspection applications from medical institutions will be accepted from May 2022.
